Dr. Florent David is a Specialist in Equine Surgery, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Diagnostic Imaging. He graduated from the National Veterinary School of Lyon, France in 2001 and subsequently completed an Internship and a Residency program in Equine Surgery at the University of Montreal, Saint-Hyacinthe, Canada. During his Residency, he completed a master’s degree on cartilage cytokine expression and osteoarthritis in Dr. Sheila Laverty's laboratory. He then took up a one-year position as a Clinical Instructor in Equine Surgery and Lameness in the same institution.

Dr. David became a board-certified specialist with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2007. He was then appointed Lecturer and Chief of Service of the Large Animal Surgery Unit (2007-2014) at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin, Ireland. He was granted recognition by the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging as Associate Member (Large Animals) and became board certified with the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation in 2012.

In 2014, Dr. David joined Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in Ringoes, New Jersey, USA where he worked as an Equine Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist for 2 years. In 2017, he returned to Europe as a senior Equine Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist at Bjerke Dyrehospital, in Oslo.

Since November 2017, Dr. David has joined EVMC as Senior Equine Surgeon. He has put his energy in establishing the hospital policies and services, and particularly the Surgery, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation and Diagnostic Imaging departments.

Dr. David's clinical interest are minimally-invasive surgery (arthroscopy/tenoscopy and laparoscopy), fracture repair, emergency surgery, poor performance and lameness investigation, tendon and ligament repair, regenerative medicine, new therapeutic approach in joint disease, diagnostic ultrasonography, ultrasound-guided injections procedures and CT/MRI.
